Kristy Caylor
In 2010 Kristy co-founded Maiyet and was instrumental in establishing Maiyet’s aesthetic, market positioning, and social strategy. Kristy developed a network of over 14 artisan groups that now regularly contributes to Maiyet’s collections. In addition to leading the design, marketing, and operations teams in New York, Kristy has worked in Kenya, India, Indonesia, Peru and Bolivia fostering and refining the Maiyet artisan relationships.
Building on the wealth of knowledge and insight from her Maiyet experience, Kristy is currently embarking on a new endeavor which aims to promote a sustainable mindset throughout the fashion industry. The CERCI platform, currently in development, will reorient the way we do business by bridging creativity, sustainability and technology
Kristy started her first business after university and then returned to graduate school to earn an MBA. Kristy was recruited by Gap, Inc where she launched the Petite business for Banana Republic, opening stand-alone stores and tripling the business in two years. Relocating to Tokyo, Kristy led the Banana Republic Japan business where she customized all product categories and increased market share. Returning to the US, Kristy united her entrepreneurial skills with her interest in social impact by running Gap’s Product (RED), which raises funds to fight the AIDS epidemic. She implemented an Africa sourcing strategy and championed the project globally.
In 2008, Kristy joined Band of Outsiders as President and initiated new product launches, licensing agreements and increased wholesale penetration while also working in Guatemala with Mercado Global training women artisans.
Kristy graduated with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and a secondary focus in Fine Arts Painting from Northwestern University. She holds an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Finance from University of Southern California and attended Otis College of Arts and Design’s Fashion Design Program.
