Florian Hoffmann
Florian Hoffmann is a social entrepreneur and innovator in the field of higher education. He is the Founder and President of the DO School, a social enterprise that educates, trains and mentors talented individuals to turn their ideas into action and empowers them to start their own impactful ventures – with a strong emphasis on doing. The DO School currently has campuses in Hamburg and New York.
In 2008, Florian co-founded the Swiss Dekeyser&Friends Foundation in Geneva with the entrepreneur Bobby Dekeyser. From 2008 to 2012, Florian also co-developed the creative strategy of the furniture company DEDON, sitting on the board as a non executive member. He is also one of the co- founders of DEDON Places and its first DEDON Island, an island resort fostering sustainable tourism in the Philippines.
Florian graduated top of his class with Distinction from the MPhil in International Politics, St Antony’s College, Oxford University researching the common European Foreign policy on a DAAD scholarship. Prior to this he studied liberal arts and political science at ECLA of Bard College, Berlin’s Humboldt University and Duke University, North Carolina.
Florian’s work has been covered widely for example in publications such as the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal, Fast Magazine, Enorm, the FAZ and others.
He regularly contributes to the public debate on higher education and innovation and has been teaching the DO School method at a variety of universities including Columbia University, Oxford University, the University of Geneva, the Hasso Plattner Institute at Potsdam University and the European Business School.
Florian lives with his wife between Berlin and New York.
