Jonathan Feinberg — Disruptor Awards

We would like to honor Jonathan as the creator of Wordle. We view Wordle as an extraordinary example of a digital disruptive innovation that has many educational, communication and design applications. We would also like to incorporate Wordle into some of the design elements for our award program itself.

Feinberg created the Wordle word-cloud layout algorithms while working on a social bookmarking application at IBM Research, in 2005. He created the “Wordle” web application in 2008. Since that time, hundreds of thousands of people have saved over 4,000,000 word clouds to Wordle’s public gallery.
